Starting abacus classes
What are abacus classes?
Abacus classes teach children to represent numbers and complete arithmetic using a physical bead frame. At Abacus Experts, children first learn place value and accurate bead movement. We introduce visualisation and mental arithmetic gradually after the physical method becomes stable.
What is the right age to start abacus classes?
We usually guide children from about five years of age. Age alone does not decide readiness. We also check number recognition, counting, attention and the ability to follow short instructions before recommending a starting point.
Does my child need previous abacus experience?
No. First-time learners can begin after our free readiness assessment. If your child has studied before, we check retained technique and learning gaps so that we do not restart too low or place the child too high.
What happens during the free readiness assessment?
We check basic number understanding, counting, attention, comfort with demonstration and previous learning. We then explain the suitable Junior or Senior pathway, starting point, mode, fee and currently available batch options.
Is the readiness assessment really free?
Yes. We do not charge for the readiness assessment, and attending it does not require you to enrol. Its purpose is to help both the parent and trainer decide whether abacus is suitable now.
Curriculum and teaching
What do you teach in your abacus course?
Our curriculum includes the parts of the abacus, posture, finger movement, number representation, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, visualisation and mental arithmetic. The exact starting point depends on the child’s assessment.
How many levels are in the course?
We use Junior and Senior learning pathways with step-by-step curriculum stages. A stage represents a connected group of skills, not simply a fixed number of attended classes. We explain the entry point and progression route after the assessment.
When does a child start mental arithmetic?
Mental work begins gradually after the child can use the physical abacus with suitable control. Early visualisation may start with simple bead images. We do not remove the physical tool before place value, movement and accuracy are stable.
Why do you focus on accuracy before speed?
Speed is useful only when the method is correct. We first stabilise finger technique, place value and answer accuracy. Controlled speed activities can be introduced after the child can repeat the method reliably.
Does abacus replace school mathematics?
No. Abacus mainly supports arithmetic, number understanding and mental-calculation practice. School mathematics also covers geometry, measurement, reasoning, data, word problems and other concepts that an abacus course does not fully teach.
Classes, modes and batches
How often do you conduct abacus classes?
We normally conduct two live classes each week. Exact days and start times depend on the available level-matched batch, so parents should confirm the current schedule before enrolment.
How long is each class?
Junior lessons are usually 45–50 minutes. Senior lessons are usually 55–60 minutes. The activities and pace are adjusted to the learners’ pathway and current stage.
How many children are in each batch?
We limit Junior batches to six learners and Senior batches to eight learners. We also try to group children at a similar learning stage so the trainer can provide useful observation and correction.
Are your online abacus classes live?
Yes. The classes are live and trainer-led. Your child uses a physical abacus at home, and the device camera should show the hands and beads clearly so our trainer can observe the working method.
Do online and classroom students learn the same curriculum?
Yes. We use the same curriculum stages, learning standards and progress areas in Live Online and Hyderabad Classroom modes. The attendance format changes, but the learning method does not.
Should I choose online or classroom abacus classes?
Choose Live Online when consistent attendance from home and a suitable camera setup are practical. Choose Hyderabad Classroom when regular travel and face-to-face observation suit your child better. Both formats use the same curriculum and progress standards.
Fees, kit and enrolment
What are your abacus course fees?
The complete course fee is ₹18,000 for Live Online and ₹20,000 for Hyderabad Classroom learning. We provide the applicable fee and written inclusions before payment.
Is EMI available?
Yes, an EMI option is available. Ask our admissions team for the current payment schedule, due dates and applicable terms before choosing it.
Is a physical abacus kit included?
Yes. A physical abacus kit is included in the Live Online and Hyderabad Classroom course fees. We explain the kit contents and collection or delivery process during enrolment.
How do I enrol my child?
Share your child’s age and previous learning, attend the free readiness assessment, review the recommended pathway, fee and available batch, read our policies and then complete payment to confirm enrolment.
Practice, progress and outcomes
How much home practice do you recommend?
For beginners, we usually recommend about 10–15 minutes of focused practice on several days each week. Our trainer may change the amount according to the current stage, accuracy and confidence.
How do you measure my child’s progress?
We observe posture, finger technique, place value, accuracy, independence, visualisation and consistency. We look for stable performance across lessons rather than using attendance or workbook completion alone.
What happens if my child finds a level difficult?
We identify the exact gap, return to a smaller step, demonstrate the method again and set a short practice goal. We review the skill before adding more complexity. Needing revision is a normal part of learning.
Can my child rejoin after a break?
Yes. We conduct a placement check to see which skills remain stable and which need revision. We then recommend a suitable level-matched batch instead of assuming the child should continue from the old point.
Will abacus improve school marks?
Abacus may support arithmetic fluency and confidence with numbers, but it does not cover the complete school maths curriculum. We do not guarantee higher marks or the same academic result for every child.
Can abacus improve concentration or memory?
Lessons involve attention, number recall, visualisation and repeated guided practice, so some children may develop useful learning behaviours. Results vary, and we do not guarantee improvements in concentration, memory or IQ.

Where is your Hyderabad abacus centre?
Our classroom centre is on the 3rd Floor of Dr Atmaram Estates, near Metro Pillar A689, beside Sri Bhramaramba Theatre, Hyder Nagar, Vasantha Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana 500072.
Which Hyderabad areas do you serve?
Our centre serves families from Hyder Nagar, Nizampet, KPHB, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Bachupally and nearby areas. Live Online classes are available to families across Hyderabad and other locations, subject to batch availability.
What does my child need for an online class?
Prepare the physical abacus, assigned workbook, pencil, a clear desk, stable internet, suitable lighting and a camera-enabled device. Position the camera so our trainer can see the working hands and beads without showing unnecessary private areas.
How do you protect children in classes?
Our safeguarding standards cover respectful conduct, suitable adult supervision, safe online-class setup, limited physical correction, privacy and a clear process for reporting concerns. Parents can read our full Child Safeguarding Policy before enrolment.
